19th Summit of heads of universities of the Caspian Sea Alliance held in Makhachkala, Dagestan The 19th meeting of the Union of State Universities of the Caspian Sea with the presence of Iranian universities (Gilan University, Babol University of Technology, Mazandaran University, Sari University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Golestan University and Gonbad-e-Kavous University) and universities of The countries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia took place in Muscat, Dagestan, Russia from October 21 to October 14, 2016. Daghestan is the largest North Caucasus Republic with about 3 million population . The meeting coincided with the 80th anniversary of the State University of Dagestan and the union's chairmanship was given to the university. The University of Guilan was also designated as the Iranian secretariat. The summit highlighted the numerous cultural, social and historical links between the member countries of the union and the potential of the member universities of the Union, and in particular the Iranian universities, some of them one percent of the world's top universities And the existence of numerous research institutes and research groups that sometimes have direct connection with the Caspian Sea, such as: Caspian ecosystem research center at Sari Agricultural and Natural Resources University, Nanotechnology Research Institute, Marine Structures, Hydraulic and Ship Structures Departments at Babylon's Noushirvani University of Technology and Khazar Aquaculture Research Center at Guilan University as a Factor for Developing Collaborations among Union Universities Was introduced.
